TWO-DAY WORKSHOP WITH FRANCIS WELLER

“Fire in the Voice: Facing the Predator”

We are meant to cross many thresholds in our lifetime, each a further embodiment of the soul’s character. Yet for many of us, an incomplete crossing into adulthood affects our ability to show up in our lives. We feel unsure of our place in the world, anxious about our sense of value and our right to be here. The unfinished business of adolescence haunts us. Stepping back into the “fierce heat of our longing” requires that we create an atmosphere that courts the wild soul. This weekend workshop will focus on cultivating inner and outer practices that foster our resolve to protect what is vulnerable in our lives from the energies of the Predator.

Utilizing the potent practices of community ritual, singing, poetry, and writing, we will open the aperture of our hearts to engage the whole of our existence. Join ritual elder and soul activist Francis Weller as we gather to fortify our presence in our lives and the world.

This gathering will include:

  • Writing practice to assist in touching our stories of suffering
  • Understanding the confrontation with the Predator as essential to our maturation
  • Working with the “Second Gate of Grief”*
  • Practices to foster our capacity for self-compassion
  • Working with the obstacles to self-compassion such as shame and self-contempt
  • An elegant communal “Reclaiming Ritual”
  • The poetic imagination to encourage our entry into the well of healing
